Kenya has issued flood warnings as heavy rains pound the region.Kenya started experiencing rains in mid-March, but in the past few days the rains have increased in intensity.

The Kenya Red Cross Society said it recorded over 100 millimeters of rain in many parts of the country in the past week, leading to six deaths.

Due to the heavy rains and floods here are few safety watch to follow .

1.Listen Weather Radio or to a local news station for the latest information.

2.Don’t drive through flooded roads. Cars can be swept away in only two feet of moving water. If your vehicle is trapped in rapidly moving water, stay in the vehicle. If the water is rising inside the vehicle, seek refuge on the roof.

3.Do not walk through flowing water. Most drownings occur during flash floods. Six inches of swiftly moving water can knock you off of your feet.

4.Do not drive around road barriers. Roads and bridges may be washed out or structurally unsound

5.Avoid camping or parking along streams, rivers, creeks, or other areas prone to flooding during heavy rainfall. These areas can flood rapidly and with little warning.

6.Stay out of damaged buildings and away from affected areas or roads until authorities deem them safe

And finally Follow instructions given by public safety officials.
