1. Slather some sunscreen

Whether you are indoors, spending some time in the sun or it’s a cloudy day apply sunscreen on your skin. Sunscreen as you probably know protects you from the harmful effects of the sun’s UV rays.

This shields you from:

  • Premature aging
  • Nasty sunburns.
  • Reduces the risk of getting skin cancer.

Pick Skincare Products That Match Your Skin’s Needs

As we said in the skincare essentials post, the first step in taking care of your skin is finding out your skin type. Knowing whether you have oily, dry or, combination skin will help you pick the right products. Using the wrong products may create more skin problems for you.

For example, if you have dry skin, then you use products meant for oily skin, which are usually really stripping, your skin may end up cracking and further becoming dry.

Change up Pillowcases

Let me let you in a little secret; your pillowcase does affect how healthy your skin is. Your pillow accumulates dirt, sweat and product build-up over time. Guess what happens when you expose your face to that every single night.

Yup, pimples and all that nasty stuff. I know you might not want to add one more item to your laundry basket, but do it for your skin.

Workout

How exactly does working out give me glowy skin you ask, well have a seat and let me tell you! When you work out, there is increased blood flow in your body. This is due to the fact that your muscles need oxygen and nutrients to sustain you during the workout.

This increased blood flow brings with it a bag of goodies. Increased blood flow means that your skin gets extra nourished. It also means that toxins present in your skin cells are removed efficiently. More nutrients, fewer toxins equal beautifully looking skin.

Less is always more

You’ve watched so many of your favourite creators do their morning skincare routine. Now you’re convinced you need a battalion of skincare products to achieve that skincare aesthetic. Slow down Nancy (respect to all the Nancies out there 😂).  Having a simple skin routine is actually the best option.

As the saying goes, less is always more. It’s better to have a few products that are suited to your skin’s needs than have a battalion of products that may end up overwhelming your skin.

Apply Products Immediately After Rinsing Your Face

Okay not exactly immediately after, but after patting your face dry. After you pat your face dry, your skin is usually damp. Applying products while your skin is still damp allows your products to trap some moisture.

The more moisture on your skin, the better it will feel and look. You can thank me later 😂😂 .

Take Care from the Inside

Let’s get a bit personal. It’s no secret that drinking a lot of water:

  • Increases skin elasticity
  • Boosts the overall appearance of your skin i.e. makes it glow
  • Reduces wrinkles.
  • Flushes toxins from your skin

Don’t believe us? Drink the recommended 8 glasses a day for a week and see how well your skin responds.

Another way to take care of your skin from the inside is by watching what you eat. Pay attention to how your skin reacts to certain foods. Did you take too many dairy products over the weekend then some pimples popped up? Try not to go overboard next time.

Exfoliate and Mask

These are two important steps in your weekly skin routine. Exfoliating removes the top layer of dead skin cells. The removal of these cells helps brighten your complexion, smoothen out your skin texture and increase the rate at which your skin products penetrate your skin.

After exfoliating, then you can indulge in a face mask and soak up all the good benefits it has to offer.
